The benefit of the occurrence of similarities in the Holy Qur’an
What is the benefit of similarities in the Qur’an? !
They cited for this reason the words of God Almighty : { It is He who has sent down to you the Book; among it are verses that are decisive, they are the foundation of the Book, and others are ambiguous. So as for those in whose hearts is deviation, they follow There is nothing similar in it, seeking temptation and seeking its interpretation, and no one knows its interpretation except God and those who are firmly established in knowledge. They say, “We believe in it, everyone from there.” Our Lord } ( Al Imran:).
First: We make it clear to them that the ambiguous does not mean that the meaning is incomprehensible. Rather, scholars have many sayings regarding what is meant by the ambiguous and the ambiguous, and among these sayings are :
- The ambiguous : is the abrogated, and the ambiguous: is the abrogated .
- The decisive : what God has made clear what is permissible and what is forbidden, and the ambiguous: what the meanings of which are doubtful .
- The decisive : what can only be tolerated in one way, and the similar: what bears multiple aspects of interpretation .
- The decisive : obligatory duties, promises, and threats, and the similar: stories and proverbs .
- Al-Muhkam : stories that are repeated with the same wording, and similar ones are those that are repeated with different wording .
- The arbitrator : what the scholars have agreed upon, and the ambiguous: what they disagreed about .
- The decisive : what the scholars have understood the interpretation of, and the similar: what God has kept secret in His knowledge: such as the coming of the Hour, the rising of the sun from the west, the emergence of Jesus, peace be upon him, how to ascend to the throne, the command of the spirit, and the like .
What is noted from the above is that all the definitions except the last indicate that what is similar is not what is meant by it being incomprehensible in meaning, but rather its meaning is: what requires knowledge and application of the mind to reach its meaning, and even according to the last saying, we see that the time of the Hour, the command of the soul, and other things There are matters of which ignorance does not harm, and knowledge of which does not benefit, but there may be benefit in ignorance of them, such as not knowing the time of the Hour; So that people remain constantly prepared for it .
Second: Scholars differed regarding the parsing of “ Al-Rasikhun . ” Some of them held that it is connected to the word “Jalalayn,” and the phrase “ they say ” is used in the genitive case to explain their situation and that they know what is similar as God Almighty knows it. Because he who only knows what people know is not firmly grounded in knowledge. And because the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, called for Ibn Abbas - may God be pleased with them both - saying : “ Oh God, make him understand the religion and teach him interpretation . ” And Omar ibn Al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him, if a problem arose in the Book of God, he would summon him and say to him : “ Dive, dive , ” and gather the children of the immigrants. And the Ansar and orders them to consider the meanings of the Glorious Book .
Another group held that the statement was based on the Almighty’s saying : “ And no one knows its interpretation except God .”And the Almighty said : “ And those who are firmly rooted in knowledge say, ‘We believe ’” is a combination of a subject and a predicate. Because He praised those who are firmly rooted in knowledge because they say : { We believe in it, all of it is from our Lord } , and if they had known it, their saying would not have given them any more credit; Because whoever knows something is obligated to believe in it, and their saying this implies that they believed in what they knew and in what they did not know .
According to this statement, those who are firmly grounded in knowledge have known through rational evidence that what is meant is not apparent, so they delegated the specification of what is meant to His knowledge, the Almighty, and the lack of specification did not make them abandon faith .
Some of them reconciled the two schools of thought, and stated that there are two types of similarities :
- One of them: what only God Almighty knows, such as the matter of the soul and the time of the Hour of Resurrection, and the like .
Secondly : God knows it and those who are well-grounded in knowledge know it, such as one that contains aspects of Arabic, so it is interpreted correctly, and it is not called well-grounded except those who know a lot of this type. His saying { except God } clearly indicates that God Almighty teaches it in the fulfillment of both types, but as for those who are well-grounded, they know the type. Second, they entered the conjunction into the science of similarities .
The speech in this regard is consistent with the language of the Arabs, such as saying: No Christian rose up except so-and-so and so-and-so, and one of them helped you by fighting with you, and the other helped you with words only .
From the above, it is clear that those who claim that the similarities in the Qur’an are useless; Because no one of the people knows it - it is not recognized, and assuming it is accepted, it is limited to matters of which ignorance does no harm and knowledge of which does no benefit, such as the matter of the soul, the timing of the Hour of Resurrection, the manner of the equation, and the like .
